The rain caught me off guard yesterday. Gladly, I was indoors for most of it. While at work, I passed a rain soaked window and the thought of upgrading my rain boots passed through my head. My findings have left me with four favorites that would stand up to the elements, myself (I notoriously destroy shoes quickly), and the city. First up is tried and true, Hunter, their Original Tall Wellington boots will get you through the deluge with your pants intact, as they rise to mid calf, and provide extra protection with their unimold rubber boot, it's a solid seal. Next, Tretorn Sub, they are a bit of an upgrade with a thin fleece layer that will mold to your toes and they leave extra room for your heavier socks for the colder months. Incredibly comfortable for everyday use, and actually really nice for mountain treks the sole is reinforced for comfort. L.L. Bean is know for their camping goods, that being said their Maine Hunting boots should be a staple in your wardrobe, these boots are a reinvention of their original boot introduced in 1912. They are constructed from water proof leather and a rubberized moccasin sole that allows you to feel the terrain. Gore-tex liners in the boot keep you warm in the cold. Lastly, Sperry, the brand that's motto is "passion for the sea," definitely knows water. Their shearling lined rubber boots are waterproof, warm, and comfortable. The footbed is removable for when you need to maintain your boot and does mold to your foot for extra comfort.
